Ferment on Premise Facility Licence back
A ferment on premise facility licence
permits a holder of a licence to operate a ferment on premise
facility (i.e., a facility where equipment for the making
of beer or wine on the premises is available for individuals).
Licence
to Represent a Manufacturer back
A licence to represent a manufacturer
allows for agent representatives for non-domestic
manufacturers
and those under contract with domestic manufacturers,
to take, canvass for, receive or solicit orders for
beverage alcohol.
Liquor
Delivery Service Licence back
A Liquor Delivery Service Licence
allows for the delivery of liquor to the public for
a fee.
Liquor
Sales Licence back
A sales licence for on-premise
sale, service and consumption of beverage alcohol. (e.g.,
at bars, restaurants, hotels, etc.).
Endorsements
The AGCO issues eight (8) types
of endorsements, seven of which allow liquor sales
licensees to sell and serve alcohol under specific
conditions. Endorsements are additions to the liquor
sales licence. Licensees may hold more than one endorsement
but endorsements are only valid when combined with a
liquor sales licence. The endorsement types are as follows:

Brew
Pub Endorsement back
A brew pub endorsement permits
the sale and service of beer manufactured by the
licensee on the licensed premises, for consumption
on the premises to which the licence applies.

Catering
Endorsement back
A catering endorsement permits
the sale and service of beverage alcohol to an event
that is in an unlicensed area other than a licensed
establishment. The catered event must be sponsored
by someone other than the licence-holder, must have
light meals available, and the event cannot be more
than ten (10) days.

Golf
Course Endorsement back
A golf course endorsement
permits the sale and service of beverage alcohol
to golfers for consumption on the playing area of
the golf course. Alcoholic beverages may be served
from mobile vending carts that must be operated
by an employee who is 18 years of age or over. Non-alcoholic
beverages must also be available.

Mini-Bar
Endorsement back
A mini-bar endorsement permits
the sale of beverage alcohol from a mini-bar dispenser
in a room rented by guests in a hotel or motel which
has licensed premises.

Room
Service Endorsement back
A room service endorsement
permits the sale and service of beverage alcohol
to persons registered as guests in a facility that
rents overnight accommodation such as a hotel or
motel provided the facility has a liquor sales licence.

Stadium
Endorsement back
A stadium endorsement permits
the sale and service of beverage alcohol in the
fixed tiered seats of a stadium that is used primarily
for live entertainment events or live professional
sporting events.

Liquor sales
licensees issued a stadium endorsement would still
be required to obtain approval by the Registrar
of Alcohol and Gaming for sale and service of liquor
on an event-by-event basis. Approval for sale and
service of liquor in the tiered seating area may
only be granted for:

live sporting events where
the majority of participants in the event or the
patrons in the stadium at the event will be over
the age of 19 years; and
|
 |
live entertainment events
where the majority of patrons at the event will
be over the age of 19 years, and there is sufficient
lighting to conduct inspections at the event in
the tiered area of the stadium.

Wine
Pub Endorsement back
A wine pub endorsement permits
the sale and service of wine manufactured by the
licensee on the licensed premises for sale and consumption
to patrons on the licensed premises.

Bring Your Own Wine (BYOW) Endorsement back
A bring-your-own wine
endorsement authorizes the holder of a liquor sales
licence for a restaurant or for a banquet room
located in a hotel or motel to permit patrons to
bring unopened bottles of commercially made wine
into the restaurant or banquet room to which the
licence applies, for their own consumption. A restaurant
employee must open the wine, as would be the case
if the patron had purchased the wine from the establishment.
The wine must have its manufacturer’s seal
intact when presented to the restaurant employee
for opening. |

This endorsement
is only available to restaurants and banquet rooms
as set out in the regulations: |
| |
“banquet room” means
either a self-contained premises or a specific
area within a licensed premises whose primary use
is for private social functions booked in advance.
Only banquet rooms located in a hotel or motel
are eligible for a BYOW endorsement. |

“restaurant” means
a premises or portion of a premises to which a
liquor licence applies that is primarily used for
the sale and service of meals for consumption by
patrons seated at tables but does not include, |

(a) |
banquet room; |
| |
(b) |
premises where
liquor is served under a caterer’s endorsement, |
| |
(c) |
premises located
on the property of a post-secondary educational
institution, or |
| |
(d) |
premises
at which entertainment designed to appeal to erotic
or sexual appetites or inclinations, as set out
in subsection 23 (1.2) of Ontario Regulation 719/90,
is provided. |

Caterer’s endorsement may not be used in
conjunction with a BYOW endorsement. |

posting of a sign advising the public that your
establishment offers BYOW is voluntary. Should
a licensee wish to post a sign, click on the

Manufacturer's
Licence back
A manufacturer's licence gives
authority to a manufacturer to sell its wine, beer
or
spirits to the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
Mini
Bar Licence back
A mini bar licence authorizes
the sale and service of beverage alcohol from a dispenser
in a room rented as overnight accommodation on the premises
to which the licence applies. Establishments holding
a liquor sales licence do not qualify for a mini bar
licence but may apply for a mini bar endorsement.
Special
Occasion Permits back
Special Occasion Permits are
for the sale and service of beverage alcohol at special
occasions such as weddings, charity fundraisers, receptions
etc. Special Occasion Permits are issued through select
Liquor Control Board of Ontario ("LCBO") stores throughout
the province.
Permits
are issued for the following types of events:

Auctions

Auction events must be conducted
by a registered charity under the Canadian Income
Tax Act, or an administrator or executor of an estate
acting within his or her duties with respect to
an estate, or a Sheriff acting within his or her
duties with respect to beverage alcohol seized under
a writ or execution.

Community
Festival Events back
Community Festival events
must be designated as such by a resolution of the
municipal council or a delegated municipal official.
Applicants must be a registered charity or non-profit
corporation, or association organized to promote
charitable, educational, religious or community
objects.

Consumer
Shows back
Consumer Shows are events
to which the general public is admitted. The major
exhibits, themes and demonstrations at the consumer
show must be directly related to an aspect of the
hospitality industry or the consumption of food
and beverage.

Diplomatic
Events back
Diplomatic events are private
reception events that are hosted by foreign embassy,
consulate, or trade commission with the ambassador.
The application form must be affixed with consular
embassy seal.

Fundraising
Events back
Fundraising events are held
to raise funds for charitable, educational, religious
or community objects. Applicants must be a registered
charity or non-profit corporation, or association
organized to promote charitable, educational, religious
or community objects.

Market
Research Events back
Market Research events are
conducted by or on behalf of a manufacturer of beverage
alcohol to provide market research about their product.

Receptions

Receptions are private events
for invited guests only.

 |
Significant
Events back
Significant events are events
of municipal, provincial, national or international
significance. The municipal council or delegated
municipal official must designate events of municipal
significance.
