Overview

Internet Gaming

In August 2010, the Ontario Government announced its intention to launch internet gaming in Ontario as a new line of business to be conducted and managed by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

As the regulator of gaming in Ontario, the AGCO is responsible for establishing a regulatory framework governing internet gaming which adheres to the requirements of the Gaming Control Act, 1992. This framework will ensure that “gold standard” social responsibility requirements are met, players are protected, and that those who participate in the development and operation of internet gaming conduct themselves with honest and integrity.

Specifically, the AGCO’s regulatory responsibilities include registration of suppliers and operators, equipment testing, establishing operational standards, audit, inspection, investigation and sanctions.

Registration of Internet Gaming Suppliers

On December 9, 2011, OLG issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to retain service providers to provide goods and services relating to its internet gaming project. Any person or company that provides gaming and lottery related goods or services to OLG or its operators must be registered by the AGCO pursuant to the Gaming Control Act, 1992. As such, any respondent to the OLG's internet gaming RFP must also complete and submit the relevant AGCO internet gaming registration forms (see forms below) to commence the registration process and determine if that respondent is eligible for registration. The deadline for submission of a respondent's application for registration is outlined in the RFP.
