Beer and Cider Sales in Grocery Stores

The AGCO is responsible for authorizing eligible grocers to sell beer and, as of June 24, 2016, cider, as well as ensuring that beer and cider are sold responsibly and in accordance with the Liquor Licence Act (LLA), the Liquor Control Act (LCA) and their respective regulations.

New: Wine in Grocery Stores

Starting in fall 2016, up to 70 grocery stores will be authorized to sell wine, beer and cider. This is in addition to the 60 grocery stores authorized to sell beer and cider.

The launch of the competitive allocation process for the right to obtain a wholesale supply agreement with the LCBO to sell wine, beer and cider begins June 24, 2016. To learn more, visit the  LCBO Media Centre LCBO Media Centre.

Applicants that successfully bid on an LCBO wholesale supply agreement in this allocation process must also submit an application for an Authorization to the AGCO. Further details on the Authorization process, including the required application forms and deadlines, will be made available on the AGCO’s website in the future.
