What We Do: Charitable Gaming

"A bingo hall owner or operator is a person who owns or operates a bingo hall which provides facilities, equipment callers, security, storage, event co-ordination or other related services with respect to the bingo hall."

Bingo hall/owner operators are classified as follows:

• Class A: A bingo hall where four or more bingo events are conducted in any seven day period during the registration period of the hall owner or operator.
• Class B: A bingo hall where four or more bingo events are conducted in any seven day period during the registration period of the hall owner or operator, where the hall is operated not for profit by a charitable or religious organization (licensee); an association of licensees; or a person who in the opinion of the Registrar is eligible to be issued a lottery licence.
• Class C: A bingo hall where no more than three bingo events are conducted in any seven day period during the registration period of the hall owner or operator.

Any proposal submitted to a municipal council for the opening of a new bingo hall cannot be approved if the applicant does not qualify for registration as a gaming supplier under the Gaming Control Act, 1992. An application for registration must be made to the Registrar of Alcohol and Gaming. The Registrar will advise applicants in writing of their suitability for registration.
